For anyone who might not know, the war started last decade. In pristine halls with gilded trimmings, a fringe sect gathered and plotted a methodical overthrow of the United States of America.
They knew such an act would be considered treason, so they would have to be careful with their plans, disguise them, hide them where no one would suspect to look: in plain sight of the entire public.
Once publicized and laid bare for the world to see, as desired, no one believed the plans except for the growing, decentralized network of people who knew the truth. Meanwhile, everyone else thought these plans as nothing more than the raving manifesto of a radical fridge of a microscopic minority without the will or influence to enact any of it. Besides, there would be no way the public would allow it. However, the opposition’s dismissive comments showed their weaknesses.
So the radical sect, re-grouped and reformulated their plans, identified new targets and sent agents to manipulate the weakest points in the chains. They had to work fast if they hoped to engage in an all-out assault under the cover of politics. The plan required a blitz of policies, a paperwork shock-and-awe, to overwhelm institutions and estates. They needed to keep any potential opposition so busy there would be no chance of a concerted defense.
It worked beautifully.
So many ignored what they thought would be an impossibility, and in doing so, they let their guard down; they looked the other way at the distractions; they tuned out. By the time the news reached them, the enemy was already through the defenses. They wasted no time in spreading faster than a rabid infection by activating all their faction’s agents, each ready to pull the strings they crafted, forcing more to change their beliefs and allow additional agents in until they had cells in all critical locations quickly dismantling anything they could and using the devastation to mold the initial shock-and-awe into a rolling catastrophe of disaster so vast and so sporadic that no one person could see it all, reducing chances of any effective counter-offense. Besides, this time they knew exactly where the weaknesses were and hit them perfectly.
Every jellied spine got a full dose of carefully fertilized wrath, causing them to buckle under fear so intense the dupes could only think of saving themselves, even if it meant others would die. They had to believe that at least they would survive the horrors to come; hope would keep their fears at bay. But it was just lies to protect someone else’s lies unknowingly fed to them from the masterminds behind the scenes. But now, with so many lies, the web connected them all, keeping each stooge afraid of doing anything that would risk having the blame topple upon them. Cognitive dissonance scared them into believing the lies, letting Stockholm Syndrome infest their minds until what remained of their morals could no longer identify the wrongs.
As it stands today, they have puppets in key points throughout the government, they have indoctrinated the key majority of the armed public to delay resistance and have dispatched militarized forces into key opposition population centers. They’ve labeled dissenting voices as terrorists, committed international warcrimes and threatened long-time allies with armed invasion, and no one has stopped them because they still don’t believe it. So everything is on a razor’s edge, closer than it’s ever been in decades. They’re just one shot away from declaring marshal law and one boot away from world war, all to fuel the final judgement of righteous retribution, a divine armageddon to unleash rivers of blood drained from those who would dare challenge their beliefs, their faith, as law. Meanwhile, the people think themselves safe behind a shield of Posse Comitatus, ignorant of myriad secret mandates that circumvent the law, all waiting for the right moment to unleash the country’s full might against its own people.
Welcome to the war.
Might be a little late to the fight, but no one could cast blame. These radicals planned it this way. Many don’t even know who the enemy is because they’re just a small sect of religious nationalist, who believe America was supposed to be a theocracy, controlled by a specific interpretation of a 2,000-year-old book, a book that has gone through so many translations, the original text and meaning is lost, only faith and dogma remain. Therefore, it doesn’t matter what the country’s founding documents state, this cult believes those painstakingly written words don’t reflect what the founders meant to write. These cultists’ faith alone allows them to know the unknowable.

No one can say how this will end because only hindsight has the chance of being clear. But what’s fact is too many people have died already because of this radical religious cult’s hope of creating an oppressive state were everyone bows to their ideology, even if it means they bow at gunpoint. Sadly, more deaths are to come.
How far will the world and the American public allow themselves to be pushed before succumbing or snapping into a full blood-mad rage?
