One evening I got a crazy idea, and as such things go with me, I lost sleep because my brain wouldn’t rest until I had completed it. It’s a satire on all the “patriotic” flags with black and blue lines. Interesting that these unapproved alterations of our national symbol is considered more patriotic than the flag itself. Placing police love above national pride sits poorly with me.
Thus born the idea to completely alter the current flag and propose one that honors more of America than just the police. If the sight of this proposed flag and description of the meanings behind it is upsetting, then blind dogma prevents understanding of the deeper intent. Explaining it here would only spoil any potential future enlightenment.
Description of the proposed new flag for America:
- Start with the standard flag shape.
- Add a field of black in the upper left to represent America’s new frontier: “Space”.
- Add 13 blank stripes to represent the 13 original colonies that came together to birth a new nation.
- In the black field, add 50 stars formed as a globe to represent the 50 states united as one.
- Add a ring of 16 planets surrounded the stars to represent America’s 16 territories from Puerto Rico and Guam to Midway Atoll and Wake Island.
- Color one stripe blue to represent our loyal police who keep the peace and morally enforce just laws.
- Color one stripe red to represent our courageous firefighters, paramedics and rescue forces who risk their lives to save others.
- Color one stripe green to represent our compassionate medics who fight every day to save lives and improve health.
- Color one stripe lime to represent our intelligent scientists who surpass the bounds of knowledge to seek new truths for the advancement of humanity.
- Color one stripe pink to represent our kind educators who give of themselves so that others may gain a greater understanding of the world around them.
- Color one stripe brown to represent our reliable farmers who work the fields and pastures that keep our nation fed.
- Color one stripe purple to represent our valiant military with a joint mission to defend democracy throughout the world.
- Color one stripe azure to represent our diligent guardians who patrol our borders across land and sea to keep our country safe.
- Color one stripe orange to represent our vital utilities, technicians who provide everything from clean water and safe electricity to the Internet and telecommunications.
- Color one stripe violet to represent our faithful religions that may practice in freedom without the fear of persecution.
- Color one stripe yellow to represent our creative youth who are our future, continuing our goal to be more perfect.
- Color one stripe cyan to represent our calm parks that protect nature in all its wonder so future generations may appreciate the nation’s natural beauty.
- Color one stripe magenta to represent our diligent bureaucrats and lawyers who unceasingly devise policies, forms and procedures without which life would be too free and easy.
