Grr Grumble Grr

So I’ve been working on the final chapter for the first part of another book. This chapter has gone long, so I was going to go back later and cut it in two. However, as I neared the end, eagerly waiting for the conclusion and feeling the joy of a story complete, I hit a hiccup.

I needed to look up some information on a specific set of doors, and in doing so, I discovered that I had been working off outdated information, and that the structure in question went under major renovations making a vast chunk of the chapter wrong. So, grr grumble grr.

The blueprints I finally located on the Internet depicted the original design and location of key rooms, but the renovation drastically changed everything. Granted it was for the better for its purpose, but now that I know that, I can’t let my description or events stand as they are. I have to start over, figuring out new ways to introduce key actions.

It feels like I’m starting from scratch. I just need to vent my frustration and start thinking about how to tell this story in a different way but keep the premise intact. Maybe the story will be better for it, but right now I feel defeated. I need a break and several days for my brain to slowly piece together the new climax with the same justified conclusion. Just grrr!
