I’ve attempted many times to put my feelings to word and have failed. So I attempt again.

It is so strange to see my country turn against its neighbors and friends while embracing long-standing threats to democracy so quickly. When I joined my nation’s military, I was told repeatedly that we defended democracy and freedom-loving people everywhere. However, our current commander in chief is having middle school playground pissing matches with war-time leaders fighting for their nation’s democracy from an invading fascist force. He’s threatening to invade a sovereign colony of another country, threatening to forcefully take over another peace-loving country, starting a war with yet another country while simultaneously snatching people off the street because of how they look and putting them in camps that are outside protected legal jurisdiction.

This is so bat-shit crazy I’m stunned, exploring what I should do while fearful of the next, even more crazy action, as we steam-roll straight to World War III.

I suspect some of his defenders are also scared of what’s next, but they’re in too deep. To standup and stop supporting him would devastate their reputation, which in their eyes is far more important than worldwide war. Stupid egotistical braggarts.

In recent years, there’s been plenty of talk about privacy being an ephemeral freedom in today’s technological age; however, now all freedoms are on the table and being attacked. Freedom of the press: World-respected news outlets are prevented from reporting on the president because he doesn’t like that they won’t cower to his will. Freedom of speech: He’s got tech bros shutting down social media accounts that are mean to him. Right to due process of law: He’s got his Gestapo or SS (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) arresting people off the street because they “look” foreign. Bitch please, unless you are a member from one of the indigenous nation tribes we stole this land from, then you’re either an immigrant or a child of immigrants, and last I heard you think birth-right citizenship is illegal, so you’re here illegality too, dumbass.

I know, I know, I know. I shouldn’t be cursing because that’s not conducive to proper discourse, but we are far passed civilized debate. Those compassion-less monsters in that tiny white house don’t care what you think. They are taking a chainsaw to more than 200 years of democracy and gutting the system we’ve slowly put into place to protect and help people because destroying it creates mass-fear. He wants people to know that if you don’t kiss our dear leader’s feet, he will do everything he can to destroy you.

An Army lieutenant colonel told me once that he disliked being a company commander in charge of hundreds of soldiers. I had thought that being a company commander would be an honor, to be seen as such a trusted leader to be elevated to a respected position. He said the problem stems from what he felt he had to do: As soon as the first soldier makes the slightest mistake, he had to come down hard with severe punishment because that would send a message to the rest of the soldiers to not cross their new commander. This lieutenant colonel, who was a big man who I respected, a gentle giant of sorts and one I would follow into hell, actually looked sad as he explained this to me. I had never seen that look on his face before. He was normally extremely stoic, a powerful, silent presence and a rock of stability. I felt his sadness at that moment, and I regretted how much I had praised him to his boss, when his boss asked. I felt that I might have encourage Army leadership to put my lieutenant colonel friend into a position he didn’t want because he didn’t want to be unnecessarily cruel to establish his authority through fear, but he explained, that was just the Army way.

I will never forget him. He was a man among men. You could trust his word and know without a doubt he’d have your back. He never had to demand respect, he simply earned it by being honest and thoughtful, and he never took delight in administering punishment. He epitomized everything that made a true leader. I recall this story to help explain that our current president is as far from this true leader as heaven is wide, to borrow a song title from the band Garbage.

Our current president is nothing, not even a speck of dirt in the shadow of a true leader. He’s a narcissistic bully. He’s tearing kids away from their parents, he’s spontaneously firing people into desperate states of poverty if not homelessness, he’s wrecking medical support systems for the elderly and infirm, he’s cutting off federal retirement accounts, he’s shutting down systems that help feed the poor, he’s threatening to raise prices on nearly everything while promising to cut taxes to the rich and corporations. He’s not a leader; he’s the bloody Antichrist. I’m using that word in a general sense to represent Chaos, but it helps get the point across.

Many who claim to represent our nation’s religious, of which approximately 67% claim to be of a Christian faith, are vocally and financially supporting this adulterous, lying, thief who demands loyalty while he yearns for what others have. He stands against so many Christian teachings I’m surprised he’s also not a murder who takes the Lord’s name in vain on the sabbath. Which, what do I know, maybe.

I’m reminded of a series of verses in the Bible’s Book of Matthew. I’m going to summarize and paraphrase them here for brevity and focus on the point of this lesson from Jesus Christ:

I was hungry, and you gave me food, …
I was a stranger, and you welcomed me, …
I was sick, and you took care of me, …
Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and gave you food, or as a stranger and welcomed you, or sick and we healed you?
Whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me.

I guess Christianity no longer believes giving food to the poor or welcoming new people to our nation or providing medical care to all who need it. Sure sounds to me that Christianity has been taken over by the Antichrist.

Who knows, maybe when his ICE Gestapo is in full effect, they’ll find these pages and come bust down my door. Alas, there are lessons to be learned from the Clash.

I know it has been a long time, but I am truly dumbfounded.
